June 29, 2024

Building trust is essential for businesses to thrive in today's dynamic hospitality and tourism landscape. Backed by the AA and VisitEngland and in partnership with key hospitality leaders and associations, Visitor Ready is a new mark of compliance that offers a straightforward way to enhance visitor confidence — at no cost.

What does Visitor Ready mean for businesses in the tourism accommodation market?

The scheme empowers businesses to demonstrate their dedication to operating legally and safely within industry standards and regulations. It provides an accreditation that helps businesses understand the essential safety and cleanliness requirements expected by today's visitors, including:

  • Fire safety.
  • Food hygiene safety.
  • Public liability insurance.
  • Equality and diversity.
  • GDPR and data security.
  • Carbon monoxide and gas safety.

How do you apply for a Visitor Ready badge?

The Visitor Ready scheme has been created to make compliance accessible for all. Eligible businesses can check their suitability at VisitorReady.com. You'll be asked to submit the necessary evidence and confirm key requirements. The application process takes just 20 minutes.

You'll need to supply digital copies of the following:

  • Public liability insurance certificate.
  • Employment liability insurance certificate.
  • Food hygiene grading evidence.
  • Fire safety risk assessment.

Once approved, you'll gain:

  • Access to a secure wallet for storing key documents.
  • Automatic reminders for document renewals.
  • A digital badge to use across your marketing channels.

By earning the Visitor Ready badge, you'll commit to adhering to fundamental standards, reassuring customers that necessary checks are in place. This badge assures confidence in guests, ensuring they can now visit your establishment with peace of mind.

Not sure if you have the right insurance in place?

As well as being a Visitor Ready requirement, public liability (PL) insurance and product liability (PR) is essential to protect your business and your guests from potential risks. Suppose a guest suffers an injury or falls ill during their stay. In that case, PL and PR can cover you for compensation claims and the legal fees associated with a claim. If you employ staff, you're legally required to have employers liability in place.

We can carry out a free business insurance check to ensure you have the right insurance.
